During the development of the Galvanic Instrument Gen II we elected to include variable and longer timing periods that were not available in the Gen I unit and, further, we designed the detachable heads to better and more comfortably accommodate use of the galvanic instrument for longer periods of time and on different parts of the body.  This was based on our understanding that some ingredients require longer periods of galvanic "assistance" to permeate the skin sufficiently for benefit.  As we continued to explore the applications of galvanic current on the face, body and hair, we confirmed that not only was a longer period of time necessary in some applications with some active ingredients, but also that the longer exposure of the skin to galvanic current altered the skin and allowed the continued permeation of active ingredients even after the galvanic current was removed.  This altered state of the skin, where active components continue to enter the skin, persists for many hours, differing between active ingredients and influenced by the length of time that the skin is exposed to galvanic current.  Nu Skin has submitted a patent application on this technology. 

Nu Skin has protected our invention.  We have a filed patent application.  The invention covers the discovery that with properly constructed galvanic pre-treat and treatment gels combined with the application of galvanic current for 5 minutes or longer, the skin is changed to allow active ingredients to enter the skin continuously for up to 24 hours following galvanic treatment.  Following the standard galvanic treatment with Nu Skin treatment products such as TF Line Corrector, TF Priming Solution and Ethocyn, etc., the ingredients contained in those products can more easily permeate the skin, possibly as long as 24 hours after their application.  Also, it is not just that more active ingredients can enter the skin.  Having the skin able to accept the ingredients over a prolonged period allows a more steady-state influence on the skin, kind of a time-release effect.  Rather than only a large stimulus for a short period, the initial large stimulus provided by the galvanic current is followed by a time-release delivery of the topical treatment product.

Simply put, use the Galvanic Spa System to stimulate and invigorate your skin .  That invigoration persists and we take advantage of that effect by following the galvanic treatment with our treatment products .  Because the skin is altered, those treatment products are provided a longer period of time and a more favorable environment to produce the desired effects.  This is something that Swiss Spa or any other galvanic (and possibly iontophoretic) purveyor can not claim.  It is completely proprietary to Nu Skin and protected by patent application.
